The remains of the first HMS Victory are to be raised from the sea bed nearly 300 years after it sank, it has been reported.

Odyssey Marine Exploration are not archaeologists. They are treasure hunters who have no interest in preservation (except where they can sell artefacts on to private bidders) or in proper archaeological conduct. A reported wealth of £500 million? No wonder they’re interested. What is our government doing letting these people have a hand in looting such an important wreck? It’s shameful.
